Anja McDonald Maternity & Newborn Workshop

The latest workshop I attended was back in August on the Gold Coast with Anja McDonald a well-known Perth photographer.  It’s a little sad I’m only blogging about this now but my life has had some ups and downs recently and finally I can share my experience of this amazing lady and her willingness to share all her wealth of experience and knowledge with her attendees.  Anja’s work is truly beautiful and her outdoor beach scenes are amazing – oh how us girls on the East Coast are jealous of the West Coast sunsets and beaches.  This workshop was over 2 days covering both maternity and newborns.

Anja has been in the photography business for over 20 years beginning her career overseas before moving to Australia and eventually calling Perth her home and establishing herself as a leading photographer here.  Anja ensures each attendee gets the information they need whether new to the industry or has a little experience behind them.  She is so supportive and provides support long after the workshop is over as she wants us all to succeed.  If you’re a photographer reading this consider looking into her workshops they are worth it.  https://anjamcdonald.com.au/mentoring/

As a photographer it is so important throughout our career to expand our knowledge and attending in-person workshops like this give inspiration for learning and trying new things as well as help refine my own workflow and improve my business as there is so much more than just taking photos in running a photography business.

Day One covered newborn posing and included parent posing.  We had two babies and covered different lighting, saftey, posing and prop workflow.  The rest of the day included editing, marketing and business skills …. Oh how I need to implement so many new things.

Day Two was maternity posing and something I’ve always wanted to try nude posing.  We had two beautiful models and they were amazing as we all stepped in to take our own images as Anja posed them in both beautiful dresses/body suit and tasteful nude poses.  We then continued the rest of the day with more editing tips including helpful workflow processes, along with marketing and more business advice.  I left this workshop with my mind so full of new business practices to implement and sadly I’ve been a little slow to do, but they are on the agenda.

I would love to hear from you if you’re wanting to capture your pregnancy to remember this beautiful miracle of a life within and perhaps something a little more revealing.  Along with newborn photography session while they are so tiny and new as they grow and change so quickly.

Thanks for stopping by
